About the Event
The Tim Howick-Smith 1000 Paws Walk celebrates the life of a man whose passion for ending cruelty to animals and his love for dogs translated to an enduring support for the work carried out by the SPCA, until he was called to rest earlier this year (January, 2020).
The Tim Howick-Smith 1000 Paws Walk, a festival celebrating all dogs owned and unowned, is essentially a walk-a-thon – but with your dogs! The event will be held at the Civic Centre carpark on the Suva foreshore. The walk-a-thon route begins at the carpark, along the sea wall to the Holiday Inn then cross VIctoria Parade and a round of Albert Park before looping back to the foreshore where you can grab something to eat at the food tents or get in some face painting for the kids. Pet shows and dog obedience demonstrations and workshops are also on the programme.
A parallel event will be held in Pacific Harbour. If you wish to organise a local event in your area, please contact us (spcaops@gmail.com).
You can also participate virtually with your dog or cat!
Don't have a dog? Don't worry! Come down and meet some of our shelter pets! Join in the walk and support this great cause. All money raised from registration fees goes towards the SPCA Community Partnership Program supporting those supporting street animals.
